Martial arts meets street-style contemporary dance

Dance Tek Warriors draws its inspiration from the iconic video game, depicting superheroes who fight in mortal combat. The dance begins as the warriors prepare themselves mentally and physically, before the real battle commences. Using the theme of conflict, we explore feelings of masculinity that is also particularly relevant in today’s society.

Using the warrior’s quest for spiritual enlightenment, Dance Tek was the first dance show to be based on a computer game. Using martial arts moves, including Capoeira combined with the body waves of street dance, the show fuses Arabic and Asian folk dance with the precision of hard-edged robotic street-style.
