Jamila studied Dance at the Brit School of Performing Arts and Technology and at Dance:Urban Practice at the University of East London, Docklands. This included various international social dances such Brazilian Capoeira, Classical Indian Dance: Bharatanatyam and Kathak and Jamaican Dancehall.
Jamila gained an Upper Division BA Honours graduate degree in Dance and Special Education, and a master’s degree in Special Educational Needs. After graduating, Jamila completed a Jamaican Birthright Internship with Grace Kennedy Ltd. where she became an ambassador for the company.
Jamila furthered her studies by completing a Postgraduate degree in Education and is now a qualified teacher in London, upholding a self-motivated approach to dance and self-development.
Jamila is a diverse and inclusive dance teacher. She taught regular keep fit classes at Pursuing Independent Paths Charity, and dance at local schools. Jamila has performed for Alesandra Seutin at the Bristol Harbour Festival, at the BBC BBAF Carnival Party, in music videos for Levelle London, Fee Gonzales and Wavy Slaughts. She was part of Rudeye Dance Agency. Jamila also performed in Awa’s Journey and Nino’s Dimension for Union Dance.
