The Company has extensive experience of working with young people aged 11 to 25 in secondary schools, colleges and youth groups, and accommodates all levels from beginners to Degree students, to teachers and experienced dancers.  

We offer imaginative and innovative education activities that promote cultural diversity; integrating dance and movement with digital technology, music and video.  Union Dance provides essential opportunities to develop creative skills through participation and access, freeing individuals and groups to discover, enjoy and use their own talent and the excellent talent of experienced trained artists and creators.

Delivered by experience and qualified company dancers and education practitioners, the Union Dance education programme provides opportunities for young people to learn new and relevant skills, which reflect their environment, cultural experiences and identity.

Union Dance offers schools and colleges a wide range of workshops, lecture demonstration, master classes and residencies as part of the company's Training & Creativity programme of dance in education for young people. We offer imaginative and innovative education activities that promote cultural diversity through integrating dance and movement with digital technology, music and video. The Company also offers special tailor made projects including boys projects and for the Arts Award, to support the professional training and development of new dancers, and young people, digital video and site-specific work.

Union Dance develops projects to:
  • Enrich, develop and challenge participants understanding of dance, taking them beyond usual boundaries
  • Use dance as a tool to help the development of young people, increase confidence and skills in self-expression and creativity, focus on identity and clarity of communication
  • Nurture the ambitions and creative potential of young people and  emerging artists, particularly pathways into the cultural industries
