Dancing is when you rise above both Worlds,
tearing your heart to pieces, and giving up your soul.

Real men dance whirl on the battle field
They dance in their own blood
When they give themselves up, they clap their hands

Union Dance production, Dance Tek Warriors, is on the GCSE dance syllabus from this autumn, and you can now buy education resources, including the DVD and Resource Pack.

This programme of work, Dance Tek Warriors was the first show to be based on a computer game. Inspired by the obsession of dancers on tour with PlayStation's cult game Tekken, the show mixes martial arts, voguing, hip hop and contemporary dance, with a backdrop of Tekken footage. Union Dance has developed a range of education resource materials to support Dance Tek Warriors, including DVD, and Resource Pack.

To become a spiritual warrior means to develop a larger vision, a special kind of courage, fearlessness and genuine heroism. The production was based on a computer game and its movement quality. It was conceived to create dance, which deconstructs and reinterprets the popular video game phenomenon. The show mixes martial arts, voguing, hip hop and contemporary dance, with a backdrop of Tekken footage. Tekken's central characters, warriors from throughout the universe, reflect Union's own culturally diverse make-up. The show explores the dancer quest — through the warriors theme that occurs in mythology all over the world. Monkey is one such widely known

TV epic series in which the journey is key to the story.
